Mr.Pearl's inspired runway at John Galliano

I forgot to comment on this John Galliano A/W 2010-2011, which struck from this collection, is the mix of what we would expect a proper English gentleman from the 19th century to wear with the undergarments from his feminine counterpart from the same period and I think I know were it all came from: Mr. Pearl
But who is Mr. Pearl? he is the alter ego of one Mark Pullin; he’s a legendary corset maker who has an atelier near Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris as legend has it. He has provided corsets for the haute likes of Christian Lacroix, Vivian Westwood, John Galliano and also for stage performances for Kylie Minogue and Dita Von Teese among others. Recently I read somewhere that corsets should be as part of men’s wardrobe as much as ties and suits to eradicate beer bellies, which is quite accurate as Mr. Pearl has the smallest waist for a man in the world.
Granted we don’t expect such extremes from your regular fellows, but to say farewell to the beer belly we can absolutely demand that much, those are even painful to look at from afar.
So yeah Galliano is up to something.

Feathers at Givenchy Land

I’m liking the feather action over at the reign of Tisci, and the thumbs up to over the knee boots yey! But somehow some of the flowy caped looks reminded me of Endora –yes the luxury pajama wearing mother of Samantha on Bewitched- with the layers of transparencies and flowiness. The first more restrained but glamour fueled ensembles were my faves see below.

Shark in the Water

Found this song yesterday and since then I haven’t been able to get it out of my head, so catchy it is! And since this is a fashion blog my excuse for putting this video here is the singer’s style, simple with retro touches, comfortable, feminine and sooo pretty

Sonia Rykiel pour H&M

A little behind the scenes of the upcoming Sonia Rykiel collaboration with H&M, honestly I could see myself wearing a lot of this pieces if not all, so amazing!

Moon Lightning at Chanel

Pastels, embroideries, fluid silhouettes, drapery and liquid silver qualities were al whipped together like meringue just waiting to melt in your mouth no wait you don’t want these to melt or put them in your mouth more like run your hand all over them to absorb the textures maybe even smelling them, do they infuse the clothes with Chanel N5 when they steam the wrinkles out? I should call Karl and ask him.
Also it seems he and king G. had more or less the same celestial influence only each in their own interpretation with Chanel’s palette expanding just a bit more.
Luvin’those bermuda suits!

Thimister dresses you for a very chic war

This is another one that looks ready to wear instead of couture to me, had to do a little research on the brand as it was news to me it existed. Kudos to the designer on his self financed runway trip, it must have been exhausting.
Sprinkled with menswear the collection was an exercise in under dressing for couture standards filled with tank tops and military paraphernalia from Russian extraction.
My favorites were the “blood” splattered pieces; the relaxed fit overall was fantastic perfect for running about town in frivolous pursuits looking put together without much effort which may be precisely what the designer envisioned for his creations, which is why I’m still on the fence over calling this couture but who knows maybe he can gift us with the perfect fitting tank top, after all that is what Couture refers to- made specially for you pieces adjusted to flatter your assets and hide or correct your figure flaws- not only grand occasions clothes.

Lend Anne Valerie Hash your old clothes

In a really interesting move Hash was able to gather donations from famous ppl to use as a base for her collection which she then disassembled to use them in a transformed state distant from the original form.
Disheveled is the feeling I get from this collection but not in a bad way, however it does not scream couture to me.

The Separating Lines from Alexis Mabille

The shoes were the real eye focusing part of this Mabille collection that left behind his usually frilly aesthetic if you ask me, every single one of them would be loved to no end if it were to enter my closet. The heavily color blocked collection at times was successful and others just reminded me of the villain from Mazinger Z if I recall correctly that was split by the middle just like the models sporting a different look on either side. The wedding dress was incredibly clever however in its relation to the main idea of the collection I’m still unsure.
The tailoring of the pieces was really good as it skimmed the body to accent curves or played geometric revelations with see thru cutouts in the midriff-very sexy in a subdued non over the top come hither way.

Armani Prive and The Moon

Why Signore Armani why were there so many moons attached to your lovely clothes? Yes the moon was a big inspiration, very romantic and dreamy but do we really want to channel Sailor Moon? Remember how in S.M. the crescent moon was plastered everywhere from the shirt fronts to the characters forehead to transformation devises.
Yes the sharpness of the curved cuts gave the clothes an edge and also the crescent moon purses (would love one of those) and embroideries to simulate craters, it was just full of wonders, really impressive and more so if one is lucky enough to see the looks up close to fully appreciate the craftsmanship in all its glory.
The palette of whites was gorge and a welcome change from the usual sea of darks Signore Armani prefers for his collections, as an example all his dresses present at the Golden Globes were black.
Somewhere the ladies who lunch must be thanking their lucky moons for the amazing assortment of power-feminine suits in this collection; the shinny shinny pant suits are great for a hot night out, just imagine a sleek ponytail, smoky eyes and sky high shoes, no jewels required-perfection.
